Statistics for Clinical Investigation, Screening and Risk Measurement

This course will help you to understand the computational steps required to calculate Risk & Odd ratio, Relative ratios, Risk reduction, Attributable Risk, Numbers needed to treat (NNT), Sensitivity, Specificity, Predictive value, Level of agreement - Kappa coefficient, Confidence Interval and ROC Curves.

 

Experimental Designs and Associated Statistics - 1 day course

This course focuses on fundamental concepts of experimental designs and related statistics. The design decision - active intervention or simply observe and describe: randomised control trial or observational study. Timing of data collection: retrospective or prospective. To use cohort or case-controls. Choice of controls: parallel, crossover or matched pairs. Resource implication for longitudinal or cross-sectional study. This course will explain the difference of the many designs and indicate which design to use, given a research question.

 

Correlation, Linear, Multiple, and Logistic Regression

This course will provide you with a thorough and practical understanding of statistics which explores relationships: correlation and regression models - simple linear, multiple regression and logistic regression. You will be guided on how to generate Pearson correlation coefficient, Spearman's rho, Kendall's tau with their significant levels and interpretation of results. You will gain knowledge and competence that will enable you to screen your data for partial correlation or confounding. Health and medical examples are used to enhance understanding of the concepts of correlation and regression.

Survival Analysis - Life Tables, Kaplan-Meier and Cox Regression - 1 day course

This course focuses on fundamental concepts of survival analysis of medical research data. A common feature of survival data is its censored data which makes standard statistical techniques inadequate to use to analyse such data. You will learn how to analyse survival time between groups and examine the effect of prognostic factors on survival. This course will give you practical use of Life Tables, Kaplan-Meier and Cox Regression models. You will learn how to interpret the statistical outputs.  

ANOVA Designs - Univariate, Multivariate and Repeated Measures - 2 days course

This course will give you a good understanding of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) designs and related statistics. You will learn how to perform Univariate, Multivariate, Repeated Measures analyses. You will understand how to ensure you have a good fit and how to interpret the statistical output and reporting of the results. 

Introduction to Chi-square, Ttest, 1-Way ANOVA with SPSS - 1 day course

This course is designed to help you to develop the skill and confidence needed to select the correct statistics to analyse and to draw informed conclusions about your research data; to understand when and how to use Chi-square test, Ttest and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test.  You will learn how to interpret the statistical output and report the statistics.

Introduction the SPSS Statistics - 1 day course

This course is designed to help you to acquire the skills necessary to create SPSS files from scratch or from paper based questionnaire data or import from Excel into SPSS, ready for descriptive statistics and graphical summaries. You will also learn data manipulation techniques such as compute, recode, select if, count occurrence, weight cases, split file and multiple response set with associated frequencies and cross-tabulation summaries.

This course focuses on the fundamental concepts of statistics used in health and medical research publications.
